Sugimat will generate energy in a prestigious university in Belgium

Last Tuesday a pilot test was carried out in the building. The project has been co-financed by the European Union with a budget of 12 million euros.

Sugimat sales representatives in France and Spain, Jacques Vié and Francisco Ripoll, have traveled to Belgium, where a pilot test has taken place on Tuesday to improve the energy efficiency of a prestigious Belgian university, located near the border with Maastricht. It is a pioneering project that will provide energy to the building through a heating system and will reduce electricity consumption by 86% and gas consumption by 75%. Precisely, Sugimat, as a leader in the generation of thermal energy in Spain, has joined this initiative with the design, manufacture and start up a thermal oil boiler burning biomass.

The event has started with a press conference in which a video of the operation of the boiler has been shown. The final touch has taken place in the afternoon with an opening ceremony where numerous political personalities attended. With this initiative, Sugimat continues with the firm step towards international expansion and its commitment to innovation, developing installations tailored to each client.

The project, which will have a payback of 7 years, has had a total budget of 12 million euros. It has been financed with European funds and counts with 18 partners from Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Poland and Turkey as an associated country.

It is intended to allow European public buildings to use up to 50% of innovative renewable technologies such as biomass or cogeneration units that offer greater energy efficiency.

The energy transition in European countries is a reality. Belgium is well aware of that. For this reason, this project envisions an expansion to generate cold through an absorption group. Thus, the energy cycle would be totally closed in regards to the different seasons of the year.
