Sugimat designed, manufactured and supplied for the company Quesos Cerrato an installation formed, among other elements, by a steam boiler with biomass.
The agro-food industry is a sector that needs a considerable amount of heat for its industrial processes and, at the same time, is able to dispose of a significant amount of biomass waste. The company, Quesos Cerrato, had both of these characteristics and, therefore, decided to valorize its excess straw and use it as fuel in a steam boiler fed by biomass and designed by Sugimat.
For this project, Sugimat designed in EPC an integral project that began with the combustion tests of the straw pellet in its laboratories.
On the base of these tests Sugimat designed, manufactured and supplied an installation consisting of:
Power supply system.
Biomass combustion chamber with travelling grate adapted to the straw pellet.
Continuous automatic cleaning.
Combi-type steam boiler (with water-tube and pyrotubular part), with automatic compressed air cleaning system.
Combustion gas treatment system.
Integral control system of the whole installation.
The implementation of this steam boiler with biomass meant savings in liquefied natural gas of more than 70,000 euros per year. This is a clear example of energy efficiency and the use of a local resource such as biomass from cereal straw and the replacement of natural gas as a fuel.
